What to Take on Your Field Trip
FOR YOURSELF :
- Protective eye wear
- Head covering with large brim or bill
- Sturdy footwear
- Insect repellant/tick spray
- Sunscreen
- Snacks/Lunch/Water
- Toilet Paper
- Change of clothing (including long sleeve shirt
& long pants)
- Towel
FOR YOUR VEHICLE:
- Water - 5 gallon container
- Shovel
- Good spare tire and jack
- Tool box
FOR COLLECTING: (Some of these are
optional, depending on the rock being collected).
- Protective eye wear
- Gloves
- Small or collapsible shovel
- Rock pick (2)
- Small & large sledge hammer
- Various chisel sizes
- Bucket or canvas tote bag for samples…backpacks
are good for light rock
- Small plastic containers for delicate samples
(film containers are great)
- Paper towels
- Magnifying glass
- Sprintz type plastic water bottle
- Small pry bar
- Old paint brush (clean)
