"ABOUT US" - SOCIETY FLIER pdf

The El Dorado Mineral and Gem Society of Placerville, California, was founded in January 1949. The society's purpose is to learn about and share interests in rocks, minerals, fossils, earth sciences, and the lapidary arts.

The society holds monthly meetings, has a junior program and sponsors a variety of special events including field trips, lapidary classes, jewelry arts classes, an annual rock and gem show and hosts the county fair mineral displays.

A the society publishes a monthly
Newsletter, which is free to its members. Current activities of the society can be found on this web site.

In its support of earth science education, the society contributes to college scholarship funds, and members make presentations at local elementary schools and shares rock and material with them.

Monthly General Membership Meetings are held at the MOTHER LODE LION'S HALL at 4701 Missouri Flat Road & Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs. Our July picnic is usually held at another location, which is announced near the time of the event.

Junior meetings, new member orientation, lapidary workshops and jewelry classes are held at the SENIOR CENTER, 937 Spring Street, Placerville.  Some committee meetings are held at other locations.
