Our next General Meeting will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the American Legion Hall beginning at 7:00 p.m.
The evening's Presentation will be about the trails the early miners and their families used to reach the rich gold fields of California.
Dee Owens, a retired Buckeye School teacher and current trail mapper with the Oregon-California Trails Association, will explain how the association mapping teams find trail locations using a variety of resources, work in the field, map the routes and work with government agencies and private landowners to preserve the trails. There were five main emigrant trails leading to the mining camps in El Dorado County for which Dee will provide background.
